We offer a unique self-catering experience that immerses you in nature's tranquility. A unique forest retreat, your home away from home and your neighbour's out of sight, all over 50 meters apart from each other.

Self-catering Accommodation In The Garden Route

Nestled either in the gorge or surrounded by the forest, each crafted and unique in their offering, but all allow for time in nature to rejuvenate the soul.

Each suite is a combination of tent, wood and glass and built in the gorge or forest on stilts ranging from 2 to 6 meters above ground giving you breath-taking views of the Karatara Gorge or the majestic Knysna Forest. Access to the treetop suite is from ground level.

The closest town, shop and restaurant is 20 minutes away in Sedgefield, so be sure to stock up with groceries on your way. There is no restaurant on-site, but we do offer DIY meals.

Please be aware that you are going to be in the bush. This is not a manicured environment; it is part of the forest. We won't, don't, can't fumigate the forest so if you are someone who doesn't have phobias about flora or fauna; trees, plants, birds, wild animals, insects, spiders, snakes, butterflies, moths and tame animals then Teniqua Treetops is the holiday destination for you.

It's early morning at the foot of the Outeniquas and the air is filled with birdsong, distant donkey heehaws and a rooster's crowing. You'll quite likely see rain spiders taking shelter on your canvas walls - the eco-conscious couple who created these eight solar-powered tented "treehouses" don't fumigate, so creepy crawlies are part of the package.

Spread over 35 hectares in the Garden Route National Park, these simple cabins have kitchens, braais, electric blankets and heaters.

Hiking trails through the forest leading down to the pristine Karatara River. Alternatively, use this as a base to sample the Garden Route's many hiking routes.

It's about 30 minutes (35 kilometres) from Knysna on the N2.
