TENIQUA TREETOPS; UNIQUE AND DIFFERENT Eco-Friendly Treetop Accommodation
In addition to your own tree house, you'll find that all your basic needs are taken care of at Teniqua Treetops. It's a real experience staying with us, one that you ought to take time to settle into, just chill out and enjoy doing very little...
To help you into the right frame of mind, each tree house has comfortable seating, indoors and out, braais on the deck and beautiful, unusual bathing or showering facilities, usually with fabulous views. The tree houses are all private and although you can see afar, no-one will disturb your privacy.
On site and close to the homestead, is a family braai area with table and seating, an indoor games room with exercise equipment, table tennis, games etc.
Outside, you'll find a big jungle gym with a swing and a sandpit for the kids. There's also a trampoline to keep them amused.
We have 2 farm dams converted to swimming pools with easy chairs and decks, a great place to sunbathe and cool off.
The smaller dam is a children's pool and it's right in sight of the main pool, so you'll have peace of mind, with kids nearby.
Then there's the river walk. It's quite strenuous as it's down into the Karatara gorge
where you'll find a lovely array of rock pools, cold, cola-coloured but potable river water, beautiful foliage and plant life and of course, plenty of birds, lizards etc. Bask on the rocks for awhile and then chill out in the rock pools.
It's fun to take a picnic and spend a few hours. The walk along the river is very special and you won't meet anyone along the way...
For those foolish enough to want to do some work, we have a 16 person conference centre with 2 breakaway rooms and a wireless hotspot. This is a wonderful environment for a meeting, particularly if you want somewhere off the beaten track with ample parking for all attending.
OUR ENVIRONMENT:
Within the immediate vicinity, you'll find a selection of moderate walks and views difficult to surpass. Beyond the Northern boundary is a private estate, similarly to the south is another farm. Our Western boundary is the Karatara River and gorge and our Eastern boundary stretches just beyond the farm road, into cultivated pine forest, no development.
Our treehouses are situated in a Private Nature Reserve,
a protected area of outstanding natural beauty and of special scientific interest. You may see Southern Cape Bushbuck, other smaller animals and possibly, if you're really quiet and lucky, the elusive leopard.
All our guests are charmed and delighted by the birds that inhabit the forest. Butterflies, insects and lizards abound.
BIRDING:
These are some of the birds that we've seen. We've also heard owls and other raptors in the forest.
In one weekend, over 50 species of birds were identified by one of our guests....
We were also able to capture the visit from a spectacular Knysna Loerie into one of our tree houses (pictures on the left)
